Major and the Monbacks
Amping up the already undeniable energy of classic southern soul with pop melodies and brass driven ska riffs, Major and the Monbacks are reviving and redefining the “Norfolk Sound." Featuring the self proclaimed "Easten Seaboard's Horniest Horn Section," this is one Thursday night at Bayou, you won't want to miss!
The musical brainchild of Berklee college of music alums John & Mike Johnson, Midnight Snack makes something new of old school psychedelic rock with the introduction of modern synths. Don't miss the Bayou debut of the only band to ever bring a glockenspiel to our stage!
The Southern Belles
Imagine a hybrid of The Drive-By Truckers' heavy southern rock and Frank Zappa's eclectic song crafting and you'll begin to understand what this promising young band is all about. Honky-tonk, electric bluegrass, and psychedelic rock get together and throw a party when the Southern Belles take the stage.
Combining traditional Cuban Boleros and Rumbas with the more modern sounds of jazz and R&B , Roberto Poveda crosses the bounds of nations and time in creating his unique brand of Latin roots music.
We Are Star Children
With all the appeal of pop and rock music, We Are Star Children defies genre classification with plenty of strings and horns, non-traditional vocal arrangements, and a unique lyrical sensibility.
Featuring a cool fusion of funk and rock & roll, Penguin Gentry returns to Bayou for two sets of classic covers, deep grooves, and off-the-cuff improvisation.
The Fabulous Dialtones
Classic rock for the new millenium! The Fabulous Dialtones play high energy, horn fueled versions of hits by the Beatles, CCR, Van Morrison, the Rolling Stones and all your other favorite bands from the 60s and 70s.
Chamomile and Whiskey
Covering a range of old-time styles from bluegrass to Celtic to gypsy jazz, the members of Chamomile and Whiskey belt out tunes as strong as corn liquor with just enough sweet harmony that it all goes down like a mug of soothing tea.
Jeff from Accounting
The quintessential DC-area party band, Jeff from Accounting plays rock, pop, alternative, and soul covers that span from 60s classics to current radio hits.
Halloween with Higher
Education & Warden
Bayou's running the voodoo down this Halloween as we present a double header packed with spooky grooves, monster jams, and enough soulful mojo to get the dead up and dancing. Higher Education and Warden are both locally based power trios playing their own brand of rock and roll music. Warden will be opening the night with a set of tunes inspired by equal parts classic rock and 90s alternative, while Higher Education adds a potent dose of reggae to their live performance.
Garnering favorable comparisons to the Eagles and Tom Petty, Old Moonlight plays feel-good, melody driven music with energy, precision and soul.
Continuing our mission to bring New Orleans' best music to Washington DC, we couldn't be more excited to announce Paul Sanchez's return to Bayou. A founding member of Cowboy Mouth, Sanchez has since struck out on his own, giving a voice to New Orleans through a prolific body of work that manages to chronicle the ups and downs of the city and its citizens. Don't miss this rare opportunity to catch one of our nation's most iconic singer-songwriters up close and personal in our intimate concert space. Ticket info coming soon!
Funk and rock are the twin jet-engines powering Flightschool through bluesy skies. Buckle up for two sets of inspired originals and cover tunes with a wingspan from the 70s prog of ELO to the more current sounds of the Killers and the Arctic Monkeys.
